EECA Program

Making Energy Efficiency More Affordable for Kiwi Homes

The EECA Programme (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority) is a New Zealand government initiative designed to support energy efficiency and renewable energy use. Through funding, education, and partnerships, EECA helps homeowners, landlords, and businesses reduce energy costs and create warmer, drier, healthier environments.

How EECA Supports Insulation

EECA offers grants and co-funding for insulation and heating upgrades—especially for homes that need better protection against heat loss. These initiatives aim to improve comfort, lower energy bills, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the country.

Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant

One of EECA’s best-known initiatives is the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme. Eligible homeowners can receive:

  • 80% to 100% funding for ceiling and underfloor insulation

  • Funding for clean, efficient heaters in insulated homes

  • Free assessments and advice

This programme targets low-income households and communities most in need of warmer, healthier living conditions.
